Maine doesn’t get more picturesque than the gorgeous costal setting of Bailey Island – except when you add in lush floral arrangements of dutch hydrangea, queen anne’s lace, sweet peas, peonies, mint, sage, zinnias from the florists personal gardens, a tent full of white and blue tables all uniquely decorated, a ceremony space overlooking the ocean, and the newly married Kelly and Dan. Welcome to the Wilds | William’s wedding.
Settled amongst three family cottages sits a grand white tent, a familiar and well-known venue for Purple Orchid, Event Planning. Handcrafted wooden signs and chalkboards direct guests and vendors to each
wedding event.
Cocktail hour played host to a number of personalized, detailed, and thoughtful ideas. While guests sipped on gin & tonics or blueberry lemonade, they could also partake in lawn games, a polaroid photobooth, a “leaf” your name guest book, and leave a message in a bottle for the newlywed’s future anniversaries.

of Stars,” and took the crowd by surprise with their coordinated breakout to the upbeat chorus. Following a drool-worthy starter of pear salad, guests chose from stuffed seasonal squash, stuffed apricot chicken, or fresh cod with lobster crumble. “Love is sweet, take a treat,” directed guests to the dessert bar. Highlights included Kelly & Dan’s cake, topped with scrabble pieces spelling out “We Do,” personalized blueberry jams and lobster chocolates, and a crowd favorite – chocolate chip cookies. Brian Zutter kept the party going all night with exactly the kind of music that managed to keep everyone dancing. Shoes off, party on.
We can’t say enough how rewarding it is to partake in a backyard, tented wedding. Not only is it warm and inviting for all guests, but it allows for so much of every bride and groom’s personality to shine through. The work that everyone – planners, family and friends – puts into it really shows and leaves all with a sense of pride and joy when it all comes together.
